3.1 3D Models panel
For the low-poly and the high-poly models you have to choose the
object and the
normals import type (Import or Calculate). If the import type is Calculate, then you have to set the
smoothing angle.
These settings will be applied in the import settings of the model(s), so for large models you may have to wait for the reimport process.
Turning on the "Auto Generate Cage" toggle you can avoid providing a custom cage object since it will be automatically created from the low-poly model by vertex expansion. In this case you'll have to specify an expansion offset. Click on the
icon to save an auto-generated cage.
Once you set all the required objects the "Update models in scene" button will appear, letting you to view the selected objects in the scene.
No matter the scene you are working on, the hierarchy will look like this:
You can show/hide the cage preview by clicking on the
toggle.
While all the original objects are moved under the object named "Scene Objects", some others are created in the scene. The original hierarchy is restored when the Total Baker's window gets closed.
You can also choose the type of material to be used in lowpoly and highpoly models in the 3D preview.
Note: Sometimes you may notice that the preview objects have a different hierarchy if related with original objects. This is because Total Baker adapts the input models in order to maximize compatibility. The original objects are not modified.
